Death Certificate
A death certificate is the official proof that someone has passed away. It is required to settle the deceased person's bank accounts, property transfers, insurance claims, and pension benefits. Without it, family members cannot access or transfer most assets.
- Family members of someone who has recently passed away - Legal heirs settling a deceased person's property or bank accounts - Families claiming insurance or pension benefits on behalf of a deceased member - Anyone who needs to update government records (ration card, voter list) to remove the deceased person

For a late registration or a new copy, go to the MeeSeva portal or your local civic office. 4. Fill in the registration form with the deceased's name, date, place, and cause of death. 5. Upload supporting documents: hospital death summary or doctor's certificate, deceased's Aadhaar or identity proof, and your own ID as the applicant. 6.
