EWS Certificate (Economically Weaker Section)
An EWS certificate confirms that you belong to the Economically Weaker Section – a family whose annual income is below a set limit and that does not belong to any other reserved category (SC/ST/OBC). It gives you access to a 10% reservation in government jobs and educational institutions.
- General-category citizens whose family income falls below ₹8 lakh per year - Students applying for reserved EWS seats in colleges or professional courses - Job seekers applying for government posts under the EWS quota - Citizens who do not hold SC/ST/OBC certificates but still need income-based support
1. Log in to the MeeSeva portal and search for "EWS Certificate." 2. Click **Apply** and enter your family details, caste, and annual income. 3. Upload documents: Aadhaar card, ration card, income proof (salary slip or self-declaration), and a declaration that you do not own large land or property above the prescribed limit. 4. Pay the service fee online. 5. Note your Application Reference Number. 6. The Tahsildar's office verifies the application and approves it. 7. Download the certificate once approved (usually 10–21 working days).
