Aarogyasri / PMJAY Health Insurance

Aarogyasri is Telangana's state health insurance scheme that covers hospitalisation costs for families below the poverty line. It runs alongside the national Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY / Ayushman Bharat). Together they cover free treatment up to ₹5 lakh per family per year at empanelled government and private hospitals.

1. Check eligibility: your family must have a Telangana white ration card (BPL) or be included in the PM-JAY beneficiary list (check with your Aadhaar number on the Ayushman Bharat portal). 2. At the time of admission, visit the Aarogyasri Health Care Trust desk at any empanelled hospital. Show your Aadhaar card and ration card. 3. Hospital staff will verify your eligibility online and raise a pre-authorisation request. 4. Once pre-authorised, treatment begins at no cost to you. The scheme pays the hospital directly. 5. For planned (non-emergency) procedures, the treating doctor at a government hospital issues a referral to a speciality hospital. 6. After discharge, keep a copy of the discharge summary for your records. 7. Raise a complaint at the Aarogyasri helpline if you are denied treatment at an empanelled hospital.
