Municipal Building Permissions
Before you construct, extend, or alter any building in a Telangana urban area, you need permission from the local municipal authority (GHMC, HMDA, municipality, or town panchayat). Building without permission can lead to penalties or demolition notices.
- Homeowners planning to construct a new house on their plot - Property owners extending an existing building (adding a floor, room, or compound wall) - Builders and developers starting a residential or commercial project - Anyone who needs a building completion / occupancy certificate after construction
1. Hire a licensed architect or structural engineer to prepare building plans according to GHMC / HMDA norms. 2. Visit the GHMC or HMDA online services portal and select **Building Permission / TG-bPASS**. 3. Register as a builder/owner and submit the building plans, site details, and ownership proof. 4. Pay the scrutiny fee and permit fee online (calculated based on built-up area and use type). 5. Your plans will be reviewed. The system may ask for corrections or additional documents. 6. Once approved, download the building permission order (BPO) and start construction. 7. After completion, apply for an Occupancy Certificate (OC) by submitting completion photographs and updated plans.
