Free Legal Aid Services
Every person in India has the right to free legal aid if they cannot afford a lawyer. In Telangana, the Telangana State Legal Services Authority (TSSLSA) and district-level bodies provide free legal representation, advice, and mediation to eligible citizens.
- Citizens below the poverty line who cannot afford a lawyer's fees - Women, children, and senior citizens involved in any legal matter - Victims of crime, disaster, or human trafficking who need legal support - Persons with disabilities, inmates, or individuals in custody who need representation
1. Visit the TSSLSA office, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in your district, or the nearest Taluka Legal Services Committee. 2. Fill in the free legal aid application form; you can also call the TSSLSA helpline. 3. Explain your case and provide details about your income, the nature of the dispute, and any existing court proceedings. 4. Attach documents: Aadhaar card, income proof (BPL card, ration card, or certificate), and any court documents you have. 5. An eligible applicant is assigned a panel advocate (empanelled lawyer) who will represent them for free. 6. Attend court hearings with your assigned lawyer; legal aid covers all legal fees and representation. 7. For urgent matters (custody of a child, bail, etc.), DLSA can arrange same-day assistance.
